Lagoon Cleanup Along Carmel Valley Road Update:
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the "Light at the end of the tunnel" volunteer days.
The dates we have set are the 1st and 3rd Saturdays starting October
3rd from 9 AM - noon. The goal is to have at least 20 people each of
these days to help pull and fill the dumpster with carpobrotusedulis
(ice-plant). As you can imagine the five of us are getting worn out and could
really use your help.
Maintaining the areas we have planted is part of the
long-term project plan. To make this happen we are also asking for
volunteers to remove non-native plants the first Saturday of each
month 9am -10am. Carmel Valley Road is sectioned by street name,
each block requires 4- 6 people to weed once a month. The people
weeding on your block could be neighbors, coworkers, friends, Torrey
Pines Association, a business, book club, garden club, Rotary club, TP Docents,etc...
A staff person will work with everyone to point out which weeds
to remove and be available to answer questions.
This is an easy way to help out the Lagoon at Torrey Pines State
Natural Reserve. We will place an "Adopted by: sign on your block. Please
RSVP by email to Carol for your desired block.
