Group Field Trips

Group Field Trips and Hikes – Non-school Programs

Please note:   Free public hikes offered on Saturdays, Sundays & holidays are not available for large groups to join in and are limited to about 10 people.  Any organized group must schedule at least 45 days in advance. Please refer to the page on Special Events.

Self-Guided Group Hikes:

At this time, staff are only able to schedule group hikes through August 15, 2026 due to the Reserve closure. Any requests for dates after August 15, 2026 will be denied.

For any questions, please contact torrey.pines@parks.ca.gov.

In-advance reservations are required to visit the park at least 15 days before the proposed date. These groups hike independently under the direction of their leaders and are expected to acquaint themselves with the Reserve’s rules before the trip. The length of this program is open-ended, Monday-Friday only, with a preferred start time in the afternoon to avoid conflict with the younger school groups. Reservation requests can be made through the TPSNR Group Reservation Request form and sent to the Torrey Pines email address: torrey.pines@parks.ca.gov

The $25 fee can be paid by check or through PayPal listed on the request form. The fee covers administration costs and, as a courtesy, includes parking. Approved groups will receive parking pass(es) at the entrance kiosk. We offer a very limited number of weekday afternoon programs for small groups of scouts or seniors for a nominal fee of $25 from Labor Day through Memorial Day. Summer programs may be available for an additional fee.  Scout programs can be tailored to badge requirements.  Seniors enjoy nature at a pace that suits them. Please click here for the request packet for a program at least three weeks in advance

Please note: Anyone conducting business (profit or non-profit) within the Reserve (photographers, personal trainers, guides, etc), regardless of group size, must obtain a permit by emailing the State Parks Special Event Office at  sd.specialevents@parks.ca.gov
